New Drone Set to Transform Battlefield Dynamics

US-based company XDOWN has unveiled a new tactical unmanned aerial system known as “STUD”, capable of transitioning from storage to flight in just two seconds, highlighting the accelerating pace of innovation in rapid deployment technologies on the battlefield. The drone can be launched manually without the need for prior setup.

The STUD is characterised by its lightweight design and ease of transport, allowing a single operator to carry multiple units. It can reach speeds of up to 305 km/h, with a range of 64 km and an endurance of 17 minutes.

The system supports a range of missions, including reconnaissance, precision strikes, and electronic warfare, with the option to equip it for targeting personnel and systems. This development underscores a growing trend towards the use of small, flexible unmanned systems in modern warfare.
