South Korea’s DAON Develops Drone Swarms for Offensive Missions

South Korean company DAON has unveiled the successful testing of advanced drone swarms capable of carrying out offensive missions autonomously and in a coordinated manner without human intervention.

The technology is based on the concept of “artificial collective awareness”, whereby drones exchange data to determine their positions and make immediate tactical decisions in real time. This enables the swarm to operate with a high degree of coordination and responsiveness during missions.

The system is characterised by its flexibility and ability to integrate with various platforms, in addition to its resilience against electronic jamming. It can also automatically reorganise the swarm in the event that any unit is lost, maintaining operational effectiveness.

This technology represents a strategic shift by enabling precise, low-cost strike capabilities, while reflecting the broader transition of military power towards intelligent, software-driven systems. It also contributes to accelerating the development of advanced defence solutions, such as laser systems, to counter the growing threat of “intelligent swarms”.
